Hi!

My name is Tom Warren. I am a musician based in Sydney, Australia. I have been playing guitar since 2000.

I am very passionate about music and enjoy using my talents to bring joy and happiness to the lives of others.

I play most contemporary styles of music such as top 40, jazz, rock, fusion, funk, soul, blues and reggae.

I perform and collaborate with various musicians across the country having performed at weddings, corporate events, award nights, conferences, restaurants, RSL’s, fundraisers, cruise ships, parties, recordings and jam sessions. I have shared the stage with Chris Sebastian, James Morrison AM, Matt Corby, Tony Dee, Rob Mills, Tarisai Vushai (Lion King), Simone Waddell, Hayley Jensen, Luke and Joel (X-factor), Ainsley Melham (Hi-5), Captain Cook Cruises Sydney, Vagabond Cruises, Buzz Band, Estelle Conley Duo, Daniel May Worship, Andrew Dickeson, Toby Hall, Dauno Martinez, Victor Rounds, Rai Thistlethwaite (Thirsty Merc), Matt McMahon, Harry Sutherland, Karl Dunnicliff, James Waples and many more.

I have organised bands for many occasions such as UNSW Open Days, Red Lounge at UNSW Roundhouse, Soul Velocity at North Bondi RSL, Marrickville Road Cafe Saturday nights, a Fundraiser barbeque for Sydney Children’s hospital and corporate events. I have connections to singers and musicians of various instruments including trumpet, saxophone, trombone, flute, clarinet, violin, cello, double bass, electric bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, hammond organ, drums and percussion. I am also more than happy to play solo jazz guitar should this be more suitable for the occasion!

I am a member of Australian Army Band – Sydney, Aslandia and Hope Resounds.

Some of my biggest musical influences in jazz include Grant Green, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, Pat Martino, John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Peter Bernstein, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Moreno, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, Dexter Gordon, Joe Henderson, Mark Turner, Charlie Parker, Lou Donaldson, Ronnie Cuber, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Lee Morgan, Roy Hargrove, Thelonious Monk, Wynton Kelly, Red Garland, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Brad Mehldau, Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Joey DeFransesco and Lonnie Smith.

I have been an active member of Horizon Church’s worship team since 2006-present where I have:

–  Played regularly for youth, young adults’ ministry, Sunday church, and at special events.

–  Been involved in recording Shirelive Youth’s first E.P.

– Been involved in recording Shirelive Church’s E.P. ‘His Name Is Jesus’

–   Performed at numerous conferences such as Radical Conference 2009 (at Church of Singapore), Groundswell (run by Youth Alive) and Synergy.

Horizon Church is a contemporary pentecostal church based in Sutherland.

I have been a guitar teacher since 2010. I am willing and able to accommodate all ages and all levels of experience. I currently tutor private guitar lessons during class hours at the Cronulla High School and online via Zoom.

I have completed Certificate IV in Ministry at Alphacrucis College 2010 and Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) at UNSW 2013.

When I’m not playing music I enjoy spending time with God, my wife and two children, broader family, friends, long distance running, camping, bush walking, fly fishing and cooking.
